Specializing in measuring and evaluating hope, Dr. Hellman is one of the nation’s leading researchers on hope theory and the positive impact hope has on human flourishing. As the symposium’s keynote speaker, he will center the power of hope as a psychological strength, especially among those experiencing trauma and adversity. At this symposium, youth program staff, community leaders, educators, and volunteers will gain useful tools, practices and approaches to advance positive youth development.

At this full-day symposium, keynote speaker Dr. Chan Hellman will work with you to answer four essential questions:

  1. Does hope buffer adversity and stress?
  2. Do hopeful children and adults have better psychological, social and behavioral outcomes?
  3. Can hope be increased and sustained by target interventions?
  4. How can hope be increased and sustained by target interventions?

Afternoon workshops will concentrate on building hope for specific populations of youth.

Lunch will be provided to all registered attendees.

We hope to see you there!
